Resetting your nervous system.

Sharing my own story living with a dysregulated nervous system can be a living hell. Learning to calm that nervous system can be hell as well. ❤️ The need to escape the pain often results in numbing the system through any activity to extreme: drugs, alcohol, sex, fitness, work food. The intensity of an activity keeps the nervous system in a space it recognzies...dysregulated. A dysregulated nervous system does not like calm. It thrives in chaos. I have taught myself many strategies to help regulated my system. Hasn't been easy and it takes time. Often a lot of alone time and isolation. Find a strong support system. Find the calm. Even if the calm is 1 minute. Find it. Feel it. Embrace it. I'm teaching my nervous system how to reset. It's my sole focus and belief of how to heal. Without a reset nervous system, the cycle continues. #ptsdsurvivor #cptsd #ptsd #mentalfitness
