Sensory Processing

Vulnerable post sharing my own sensory profile. I share this due to personal experience of having to endure a sanctioned psychological assessment.

The shame I felt before/during/after a psychological assessment is something I am still processing. As I wait for my 2nd assessment, the trauma of the experience is still with me. Thankfully my background gave me knowledge to understand it, but it also brought up other workplace traumas. I believe in a more gentle way to treat individuals who are struggling in environments.

A Sensory Profile can provide information that empowers an individual. The inner work still needs to be done, on your own or in 1:1 settings. I have done my own to share with you. I was extremely good in a crisis but what I lacked in my work environment was space to heal my sensory sensitivity, especially after a crisis, which leads to extreme sensory avoidance. Over time this lead to workplace ptsd/burnout/compassion fatigue.

I'm embracing a very private moment in my life of having a mental breakdown and showing up to show there is no shame. This sensory profile helps me understand my inner work as an individual but also as someone who believes in healing holistically. Having your senses (nervous system) constantly vibrating out of tune can also lead to addictions: alcohol, drug, sex, workaholic, food, exercise.... Can also show up as traits of perfectionism, high achievers, introverts.

I share my work/research/journey to let others know they aren't alone. I refuse to let the opinions of a system define who I am.

As the second half of the year is approaching and you have insurance, assessments are billable under naturopath services. I also do a sliding scale for those without insurance. These assessments provide a great baseline for those willing to move forward on their healing.
